The American-type windmill was developed in 1854 by Daniel Halliday. This design was ideal for settlers on the plains.

Homesteaders, farmers, and ranchers were no longer dependent on natural water as they could drill wells and pump water. It was actually the original wind power!

This Wind Mill has been on the farm long before the Raasch family bought the property. We think it’s been here since the 1930’s.
