Mining Sluice

Our mining operation replicates the sluice mining that was done during the California Gold Rush between 1848-1855.

Sluice mining is a method of separating and recovering gold from the gravel by the use of running water. Sluices are the long, narrow wooden boxes that water passes through.

Gold mining still takes place today throughout the western United States.

Instead of searching for gold at Carolyn’s, our mining bags allow guests to look for gems and rocks.
